Pure Joy, Love, and a Little Bit of Drama in Umbria
Every now and then, this job rewards you with something that goes far beyond a beautiful event.
Over the years as a destination wedding photographer in Italy, I’ve captured truly spectacular days. But every so often, a wedding comes along that completely redefines why I hold a camera.
I’m talking about the weddings where I find myself getting emotional behind the lens. The ones where the lines blur, and I leave not just as a vendor, but as a genuine friend to the couple and their guests. The days where the creative energy is so perfect that it feels like the only possible way to tell their story. I’ve had days where I didn’t take a single sip of alcohol, yet walked away feeling entirely drunk on the sheer happiness and energy filling the room.
That is the exact magic of Kyle and Justin’s wedding at Castello di Rosciano in Umbria.
Everything about it was perfect. And I don’t mean “perfect” in the way the candles were arranged or how the napkins were folded. I mean what a real, honest-to-god wedding is actually about: family, incredible friends, and the raw joy of celebrating two people in love, surrounded by a beautiful corner of the world.
I first had the pleasure of hanging out with these two (and their absolutely adorable dog) back in May for a pre-wedding session in New York City. Beyond being exceptionally kind humans, they happen to be incredibly talented actors—you might recognize them from Broadway’s Kinky Boots or HBO’s The Deuce.
Bringing a vision like this to life takes a village, and this spectacular day was orchestrated by the brilliant Federica from The Italian Wedding Event. I’m lucky enough to work with Fede often, and she is a true master. Her weddings are like a complex puzzle where every single piece falls into place with absolute perfection.
Kyle, Justin, their families, and their guests brought an unforgettable energy to Umbria. So, without further ado, here is a glimpse into an extraordinary day.
Or, as Kyle and Justin would say… DRAMA.
