About

A quick bio.

Ciao, I’m Julian.

Born in Germany, I discovered photography early on, almost instinctively. At sixteen, my first images were published in a Belgian newspaper. By eighteen, I was photographing in Angela Merkel’s office in Bonn. Years in photojournalism followed, leading me to extraordinary encounters, from Bill Clinton to Bono, from Helmut Kohl to moments that made history.

Then love rewrote the map and led me to Italy. A country that not only became my home, but also deeply shaped the way I see, feel, and tell stories. The light, the landscapes, the closeness of people, and this unique mix of lightness and depth changed my perspective.

When a friend asked me to photograph his brother’s wedding, many things suddenly came together. For the first time, I saw how people relived their day through my images. Not as a perfect performance, but as an honest and emotional memory. In that moment, I understood what truly matters. Wedding photography is not about perfection. It is about closeness, trust, and those small, fleeting moments that often go unnoticed and later mean everything.

Since then, I have been documenting weddings in all their forms. Small, intimate celebrations on a hillside in Tuscany, with just a few guests and long conversations late into the night. Large celebrations with many people, music, dancing, and fireworks. Different sizes, different places, different cultures. And yet, in the end, it is always about the same thing. Capturing the day when two people begin their life together.

From a photo to a story

In photojournalism, it was about one image.
In wedding photography, it is about the whole story.

The story of a unique day, with all its big and small moments. With emotions, quiet moments, spontaneous snapshots, and timeless portraits. How often in life do friends and family come together, travel to a special place, and celebrate life itself?

My work is documentary at heart, guided by a creative eye and a deep sensitivity for people. I work calmly and unobtrusively, with great attention to what happens between the lines. Very often, it is these unnoticed moments that later become the most meaningful.

Over the past 16 years, weddings have taken me to many countries. My photographs have been published in numerous national and international blogs, magazines, and newspapers, and have received many international awards. German television ZDF followed my work in Italy for a documentary.

But the greatest recognition for me is the trust of the many couples who tell me that they see themselves in their images.
Honest. Emotional. Timeless.
